Management can offer you and your crew all the advice and shore-side support
you require ensuring that your yacht is utilized in the most cost effective
and beneficial way possible.
Crew Placement:
Yachts require highly
skilled and motivated crew, capable of providing the safety, comfort and
service that you and your guests whether private or charter require.
Nicholson Yacht Management has the enormous advantage of having its own long
established crew agency and is constantly on the look out for the best
Captain’s and crew available. If you need new crew or have problems with
your existing crew that cannot be resolved, we will find the crew that you
require
Payroll, budgeting and
accounting:
We will advise you on
a competitive salary structure for your crew and administer the monthly
payroll. When required we will arrange payments to suppliers. Every month or
quarter we will verify the yachts accounts and present a summary to the
owner. In consultation with the Captain and owner we will provide an annual
budget, based on the considerable experience we have of running yachts such
as your own.
Crew Administration:
We will help your
yacht to operate safely and efficiently, throughout the year. Efficient
itinerary planning is essential in order to maximize the useable time
available on your yacht, for both charter and private use. In consultation
with the Captain we can help plan each seasons activity, scheduling in refit
and shipyard time when necessary.
A thorough
maintenance schedule for the yacht’s equipment is essential and we will
liaison with your Captain and Engineer to ensure that this is adhered to
whenever possible. Prevention of problems is much more efficient and less
costly than curing them. This hopefully will ensure that your yacht is in
the best possible condition at all times.
Arranging
quotes for refit work and general repairs is an area where we can save the
Captain considerable time and yourself expense.
We will make
sure that your crew is aware of the ever changing maritime qualifications
required to legally run your yacht, and provide employment contracts if
necessary.
Spares acquisition and dispatch:
Due to the buying
power the Nicholson’s group has, we are able to pass on significant trade
discounts on spares and equipment, as well as prompt worldwide delivery as
required. We will hold on file an inventory of your yachts technical
equipment from Engines and Generators through to pumps and filters to
facilitate the speedy acquisition of the spares required and the most
beneficial price to you. We can research the best fuel prices in the yachts
cruising area and make arrangements for bunkering, in most instances duty
free.
Insurance:
Through a number of company’s we are able to negotiate competitive rates
for yacht insurance and can also arrange employer’s and crew liability, as
well as medical insurance for the crew. Once the policy has begun, we are
the first point of contact for the insurers and will deal with all of the
ongoing administration for the policy, including the co-ordination of any
subsequent claims.
Compliance:
There is an
ever-increasing burden of legislation within the yachting industry,
particularly if your vessel is MCA registered for charter or requires ISM
compliance. Nicholson have extensive experience with dealing with these
highly complicated codes and offer cost effective and efficient solutions
for safety code management.
Charter Consultancy:
During the winter
season, Nicholson Yacht Management will be based out of Antigua, the
yachting hub of the Caribbean. We will constantly liaison with our Nicholson
Yachts Charter Management division in Newport, Rhode Island. Between these
offices we have extensive knowledge of what is required to successfully
charter your yacht.
During the
period that your yacht spends in the Caribbean, starting from early December
with the annual Antigua Charter Yacht Show, through Classic and Race week,
to early May, we will provide constant advice and information to your crew
to ensure that the boat is used in the most beneficial way possible, both to
maximize charter revenue, and to allow your own personal use of the yacht.

personnel have acquired in the Caribbean over the last twenty plus years, we
are able to give a very personalized service to you and your yacht.
We will
advise your crew on the most practical and interesting cruising itinerary’s
for the periods of their charters or private cruises. Our knowledge of
places of interest, fine restaurants, local culture, and provisioning is
unsurpassed.
