Life at Sea is a Challenge
Sailing the ship and ensuring the passengers enjoy a comfortable, safe, exciting (and
relaxing) voyage is a demanding task. Teamwork is essential in this round-the-clock
operation. Besides professionalism, key characteristics are hospitality and helpfulness.
After all, for the passengers, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. |
 |
The Stad Amsterdam is registered as a sailing ship capable of
carrying over 36 passengers. Sailing this ship optimally and ensuring that the guests are
properly catered for requires a relatively large crew. |
 |
The ship can accommodate a maximum crew of twenty-five. This
includes the captain, boatswain, quartermasters, mates, seamen and engineers.
Below
deck, the core personnel are the steward, cook and waiters. The permanent crew is assisted
by six trainees in a variety of functions. They sail with the ship for a maximum of one
year.
